Olivier LAURENT - CEO Coligane group

The terms health 2.0 and web 2.0 has become quite popular with healthcare professionals, patients, pharmaceutical companies, medical institutions and other related industries. Quick reforms and improvements in the information and communication technologies (ICT) have opened up a number of options for today’s internet users. The knowledge of health and the delivery of healthcare which were restricted within the physical boundaries of a hospital have broken all the barriers and are spreading wide and far in the virtual world. The healthcare industry is now gradually becoming patient centralized wherein they are being empowered to make the choices about the treatment, doctors, hospitals, and medications. While this can make the people involved in the healthcare industry more responsible, it can also make them use means to create a bias regarding the healthcare options. Nevertheless, health 2.0 is here to stay and will be used for creating awareness as well as misguiding people. It all rests with the user to make a choice.
